
Cleveland State Accomplishments
There are several factors that led to Cleveland State’s selection as the college of the year. They include the development of a bold and strategic completion plan, increases in specific areas such as degrees and certificates awarded, and the development of innovative programs that support student success and workforce development. Following is a list of accomplishments over the past year that contributed to our becoming the first recipient of The College of the Year award.
- Featured in national study released by the Center for Community College Student
Engagement about Mindsets (A Mind at Work: Maximizing the Relationship Between Mindset
and Student Success) - CSCC Student Amanda Forbes was one of 20 selected to the PTK All-USA Academic Team
- Largest number of Honors Scholars Graduating to date (25 total)
(Significant increase in CSCC Honors program) - Largest enrollment growth Fall 2018 and Spring 2019
- 22% increase in adult students (first increase in seven years)
- Fall-Spring retention improved 4% (highest in four years)
- Doubled graduation rate in past six years
- Completed first Capital Campaign (exceeded $2.5M match)
- $17.75M Capital Outlay in new budget (McMinn Higher Education Center, only TBR funded
project this year) - 1st year of Mechatronics Honors Institute
- 1st TN Valley Early College class on campus
- Expansion of Veterans Reconnect and campus program office
- $250K Grant for Mechatronics Early College and Dual Enrollment
